September Updates from Utah

From time to time, Temu will share his deep thoughts.  Here's from one recent evening.  I'm not sure what they're teaching at JCC preschool, but it seems good to us.

Last week we hiked in big cottonwood canyon, on the the trail to Lake Blanche.  It was steep but pleasant.  We're still getting used to this being just 20 minutes from home.

Later when daddy was at work, Temu had some messy play time.

Then another milestone.  We took the training wheels off the bike.

Here's how it went.

Today we visited Snowbird.  Here's the sign in their parking lot.

It turns out to be true, because we saw this guy cross the road.

We took the tram up to the top of Snowbird, then made a 3 mile roundtrip hike to the top of Mt. Baldy.  It's pretty barren up at 11,000 feet, but still beautiful.

Finally, here's Temu dressing up as a sheep during our last trip to Ikea.

Wasatch 100 - 2014

After cheering on Uncle Mark for many years from afar, we were finally able to see part of an ultra in person.  Truly amazing.  We saw Mark at Lambs Canyon, mile 52.48. Knowing that each runner we saw come through the aid station had just run essentially 2 marathons through the mountains and had 2 more marathons to go was pretty remarkable.

Bell ringers anxiously awaiting his arrival at the aid station.
 Up he comes!

After a short rest and some food and drink at the aid station our crew accompanied Mark up the 2 mile road to the next trailhead.

Looking good and ready for another 48 miles.

Future trail runners blurring down the trail.

Mile 75
Wahoo! At the finish - 27 hr. 39 min - a PR by an hour.

First day of school!

Today is Temu's first day of preschool!  He is going to the JCC ECC (Jewish Community Center Early Childhood Center) - it's an excellent center and after just a couple days of meetings and visits, we're already so impressed.  About two minutes into being in the room this morning Temu announced, "I love this place!"  We're hoping he continues to love it all day and each day he goes!
